Voucher Review – Cash Cash Pinoy – Gloria Maris

When: October 13, 2012
Where: Gloria Maris – Podium Branch
What: Set Menu B for 8 Persons
Price: Php 2295.00 valued at Php 4590.00 / savings: Php 2295.00

Groupon Site: Cash Cash Pinoy / Deal Here

There were actually 3 Set Menus to choose from, we chose Set Menu B.  The price is not that bad since it’s 50% off!  I’ve already made reservations for next Saturday at around 8pm.  We will be celebrating my mom’s birthday.

The Set Menu B consists of:

Eight treasures shrimp soup

Crispy Fried Asado roll

Seafood with Gold mushroom XO sauce

Steamed Lotus leaf glutinous rice with chicken

Fried spareribs with Shrimp sauce

Fujian fried noodles

Taho

Additional Dishes Ordered:

Sweet & Sour Pork

Chicken & Prawn Salad (should have been named Chicken Salad only, since there were only 2 prawns included in the dish!)

Update:  We were quite disappointed with the turn out of our dinner.  For the price, even if already at 50% off, we think it wasn’t worth it!  We could have gotten more of what we paid for in other Chinese restaurants.  Maybe we were just expecting too much!  The taste of the dishes was just so-so.  It’s like we’ve eaten at a non-Chinese restaurant.  The serving wasn’t the normal size that would be enough for 8 persons.  So we decided to order 2 more dishes.  That night, even a Saturday, there weren’t too many people dining at the Podium Branch, so you guessed it, service wasn’t that good either.  They served everything all at the same time.  In a hurry?  Isn’t lauriat supposed to be served one after the other?  Or at least, they let us savor the dish first before serving the next.  Even the trademark Taho wasn’t good!  Our neighborhood Taho vendor serves taho better!

There were only 2 things I was happy about with this experience.  First was that they didn’t charge us for the cake we brought in.  Lastly, they didn’t ask us to leave when they closed.  (We were the last diners there!)

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate this voucher a 4!  And I wouldn’t recommend this branch to anyone.  I still prefer the original Gloria Maris in Greenhills, San Juan.

Voucher Review – Ensogo – Longchamp Le Pliage Bag

When: Order: June 20, 2012 // Delivery Date: August 3, 2012

Where: Delivered at my doorstep for delivery cost of Php 45.00

What:  Longchamp Le Pliage Long Handle Large Bag

Price: Php 2,699.00 valued at around Php 7,000.00

Groupon Site: Ensogo

My Longchamp Le Pliage finally arrived August 3, 2012 after more than a month and a half of waiting!

It was in a small package. Just the size of its paper bag folded in half.
My Longchamp Le Pliage Long Large Handle Bag!

I thought it would never be delivered. This purchase made me anxious. There were about 2 points to consider.  First, there was the authenticity of the bag.  So many high-quality fake bags are out in the market claiming to be original and authentic.  How would I know that Ensogo would not join forces with one?  I just trusted my gut instinct and continued hoping that it would turn out to be a good buy!  Well, it did and I am happy now that the bag I ordered is in my hands already!

That was the fear I had when I placed my order.  Then here’s another, the first delivery period was June 18, 2012 to July 18, 2012. Here’s my proof:

I didn’t receive my order during that period of time.  Instead, when we called up Ensogo to ask about it, we were told that it was changed to another delivery period which was July 9, 2012 to August 9, 2012.

Then that was the time my fear about being scammed took over. My husband called up Ensogo for the 2nd time and he was told that our order wasn’t on the list yet. Well, that time, I just hoped that it would come or else, I would have paid almost Php3,000.00 for nothing.

All well that ends well. I got my bag and it’s authentic. Gone were the fears I harbored for the past month and a half.  Here are some of the details we should all watch out for when checking if a Le Pliage is authentic or not.  Sorry for the not-so-clear shots as I used only my Itouch.

Diamond like patterns on the front leather flap (as against to fish like patterns)
the handle is all leather (as against to having a plastic tube inside)
the pocket inside is sewn on the bag (as against to only the top portion sewn on the bag)
all the snap buttons has clear plastic discs on the back (as against to none)
the back of the flap has an indent of the jockey logo (as against to none)
the leather on the sides of the bag are rounded (as against to pointed)

Aside from these, you should also check what’s written on the back flap.  The first line should be LONGCHAMP.  Then the second line should beLE PLIAGE “SHOPPING” – MODELE DEPOSE.

Hope you learned something from this post.  I definitely learned a lot in this purchase.  Till my next review!

***UPDATE***

Authentic or not, that was the risk I had to take when I made this purchase.  Since there was no Longchamp flagship store here in the Philippines, the authenticity of the bag could not be proven.  However, I don’t want to have to go the long way and and make a complain (as I know wala rin mangyayari, I will just be wasting my time and effort).  It’s over and done with and I already learned my lesson, the hard way!

Voucher Review – Cash Cash Pinoy – Cyma

When: July 14, 2012

Where: Cyma Greek Taverna in Eastwood City

What:  Ala Carte Menu

Price: Php 1,000.00 valued at Php 2,000.00 / savings: Php 1,000.00 (We had 2 vouchers. Aside from the Php 2,000 we paid for the vouchers, we paid an additional Php1,000.00 because we ordered a lot of food! )

Cyma

For my daughter’s post 2nd birthday celebration, we went ahead to Cyma Greek Taverna at Eastwood City.  We called up to reserve our slot as we always do. That’s the first thing we do if we are to avail of a voucher!

We were a few minutes early and the place wasn’t packed yet, since we reserved an early dinner time slot.  The staff were all accommodating. They showed us our table and asked for the vouchers.  (One thing not to forget also! Bring the voucher!) We bought 2 vouchers. A voucher is good for 2 persons only. We were 4 plus my little princess.

We had a few pictures taken while waiting for our order. See how our little princess be all cute and ah, cuter!

cutie cute daphne

Then some more pictures…

daphne with mommy

After sometime, the food finally arrived. First was the Soupa (soup) Mommy ordered (which I am sorry I forgot what it’s called).  It was a French Onion Soup, the taste was just right.

Next to come was the Orektika (appetizer), I ordered their Spinach and Artichoke Fondue, which turned out was a house specialty and really appetizing. Just like the soup, the saltiness was just right. You can actually taste the spinach. The melting cheese on top made it yummier! It was served with 3 slices of pita bread and 3 slices of toasted garlic bread, which actually made us full already!

Spinach and Artichoke Fondue

And here’s a picture of Daphne eating her pita bread.  She loved it.

Our family loves anything lamb. So we ordered 2 dishes of lamb meat. The first was a Souvlakia Souvlaki which was skewered lamb meat with vegetables.  More like the Kebabs of the Persians.  The skewered lamb meat was served with 3 full pita bread and garlic sauce.

The other dish we ordered was another house specialty, it was the Paidakia. It was grilled lamb ribs served with potatoes.

Both lamb dishes were grilled to perfection I must say.  The true taste of the lamb came out very savoury.  I just squeezed some lemon juice over it and boom, yumminess! The lamb meat were also very tender.

As much as I would like to try their Glyka (desserts), there’s no more room. That is why I would go back to Cyma again, maybe sooner than later, to try out the other specialty dishes and of course, their desserts. Rating? I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Cyma makes a very healty choice of a restaurant for me and my family! Good food, good service, good ambience – what else could we ask for?

Cafe Jeepney

For my mother in law’s birthday, we decided to try the buffet in Hotel Intercontinental’s Cafe Jeepney.

We called up the hotel for reservation to avoid any inconveniences and to make sure that we have a table.  We went there early enough to choose our table. The staff were all pleasant enough, they even helped me with my baby Daphne. They even gave Daphne her own chair with table and her own bread! To Daphne’s delight! 🙂

Daphne and her bread

We waited for a few minutes because the buffet isn’t open yet.  Since the place isn’t packed yet, we decided to have some picture taking going on.

The place’s interior is very warm. Dim light and all. You will not be intimidated. It’s perfect for little family gatherings or for couples who wants to enjoy each other’s company.  Here are some pictures of the food display.

And our favorite dessert of them all… the Chocolate Truffle

Overall, dining at Cafe Jeepney gets 4 out of 5 stars.  Although the selection of food is not as many as those other hotels, the food is really sumptuous and uses real ingredients. You know that you are not being shortchanged.  Moreover, the staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful.  If I have a chance to eat at Cafe Jeepney again, I will definitely come back!

Here’s our family picture after our yummy dinner!

Voucher Review – Cash Cash Pinoy – Chateau Royale

When: January 28 – 29, 2012
Where: Chateau Royale in Batangas
What: Enjoy 2D/1N of Fun and Relaxation / Good for 4 people                Price: Php 1999.00 valued at Php 4200.00 / savings: Php 2201.00

My hubby bought 2 coupons so we could bring the whole family!  The picture above is the front lawn of Chateau Royale. Inside is the reception area and the different indoor activities you could do. Though we weren’t able to enjoy those anymore due to lack of time.  The cafe is just outside the lobby and the beach inspired pool area! Which we also weren’t able to try because the weather’s too cool for my 18 month old daughter!

Here’s a picture of me and baby – background the playground on the pool.

Here’a another photo of the pool area, you can see the sand beside the pool!

A picture of my brother in law and baby – background our log cabin inspired rooms!

Forgot to take pictures inside the room, but it’s really big. It can fit more than 4 people. The only downside was, there’s only 1 bed which can sleep 2 people, the other 2 would have to sleep on the floor, on 2 uncomfortable mattresses. Since the room was big, they should have put another bed in there. Oh, and the air conditioning in 1 room drips. Didn’t bother to complain about that also. We were too tired already, we just moved the bed away from the dripping air con!

There were a lot of cabinets you can use if you are staying for a longer period. And if you’re many.

We didn’t get to do much on Day 1 since we arrived late in the afternoon already. And we also went out to dinner at Tagaytay which was only a 15 minute drive away if there was no slow car in front of you!

On Day 2, we all woke up early and availed of the free breakfast at the Chateau’s Cafe.  I thought it was a buffet free for all, I was wrong! You only get to choose 1 viand – Corned Beef or Ham plus a sunny side up egg and garlic rice to complete the meal. For the drinks, you get to choose from coffee or orange juice!

Here’s my breakfast!

I realized there’s not much to complain about since we got our rooms on a discount. At Php 2,ooo or Php 500 per person, a free set breakfast is fine already!

After breakfast, we strolled along the vast compound. Here’s a photo of the whole family in the driveway!

We went to the fishing pond, there were some guests who actually caught fishies from that green pond! For a fee, though!

Then we posed for another family pic in one of the wooden benches in the park.

Then we saw some horses! The mother horse is tied but the little pony is not. And it’s free to roam around the whole compound.

The Manong was kind enough to saddle up the mama horse so that my little one could ride atop of it for picture taking, for free of course!

The Chateau Royale, aside from really having a large area for guests to enjoy and connect with nature, they also boasts of lots and lots of green houses where organic vegetables are farmed. And they sell them to tourists as well.

The staff were nice and accommodating, it was fast and easy to check in and out. The whole place is secured, you can see guards roaming around even at night. Aside from those stationed at the gate who checks the people who comes and goes.. The rooms have triple locks installed at the doors. The whole place is relatively clean and green. I say 4 out 5 stars for this resort.

Another family photo with the Chateau Royale Tarpaulin as background inside the lobby.

And that caps off our experience at the Chateau Royale Batangas.

See you there!

Voucher Review – MetroDeal – Fatboy’s Pizza

What: 2 Delicious and Mouthwatering Supersize 14 Inch Pizzas Price: Php 295.00 valued at Php 590.00 / savings: Php 295.00

This is a long overdue review! Sorry for that!

,

Fatboy’s Pizza is thin-crusted, and it’s really fully loaded with different toppings! We began to love this pizza since we first took a bite because of its savoury flavor! It can even compete with this pizza brand which has nothing but bread on its pan!

With Fatboy’s, you will not be shortchanged! with toppings that is!

And it’s so easy to claim, we claimed ours at the Puregold Jr Branch in Bocobo Street. When you get there, all you have to do is show your voucher and order what flavor of pizza you want (that’s part of the deal) and wait until the pizza bakes! Hot and fast and easy! What more can you ask for?

Even without the deal, the price is really worth it! So what are you waiting for? Go buy now! 🙂

This deal gets a perfect score from me! 5 out of 5!

At last, I was able to complete 1 album! With the help of my brother in law, Tristan and my husband, Dennis of course! The album consists of Daphne’s 1st out of the country travel! To Daddy and Mommy’s favorite destination, Hong Kong!

We subdivided the tasks – I chose the pictures to be included. Tristan did the layout for the album. Dennis did some layout also and finalized everything to be sent out to Fotosnaps.

Now, we patiently await the outcome! I can’t wait to see the actual album!

Will be back for some pictures! and hopefully the 2nd album!

Till then! 🙂

***UPDATE***

The album turned out so well that we bought and used Fotosnaps again. To date, we have 3 albums from them.

Voucher Review – Ensogo – Secret Recipe

When: November 11, 2011
Where: Secret Recipe / Robinson’s Place Manila Branch
What: Any Ala Carte Menu Item (Food, Beverages & Cakes)
Price: Php 330.00 valued at Php 700.00 / savings: Php 370.00

Groupon Site: Ensogo / Deal Here

We used 5 vouchers so we got a free cake, a Choco Mud Cake which is so yummy! If not for this cake, this birthday dinner would have gone down the drain!

The following are the food we ordered, the first picture taken by us and the second picture is the photo on their menu. Be the judge if a) they were served the same portion, b) they looked as yummy and c) the food are worth their prices or not! My answer is 3 BIG NOs!

Hokkien Mee – Php 280.00

Grilled Black Pepper Chicken – Php 245.00

Chicken Cordon Bleu – Php 265.00

Irish Lamb Shank – Php 485.00

Mozzarella Baked Fish – Php 315.00

Pan Grilled Dory in Lobster Sauce – Php 345.00

The food tasted bland, where it was supposed to be really tasteful.  The portions were small. Only the plates were big.

On top of everything, the service was really bad!

Secret Recipe Robinson’s Place Manila had a team of unwell-trained staff! Because of this, the service of the whole restaurant suffered!

We used to eat at Secret Recipe before and had no problems whatsoever. Maybe the management needs to reshuffle their staff, so as to not lose clients.

I even heard the other table complaining because nobody is attending to their needs.

Unhappy vibes crawled in because we’re unhappy with their service, we didn’t even bother to sing “happy birthday” and blow the candle of the cake anymore.  It was just at home that we did, and thankfully, the cake tasted so yummy.

So for the cake and the cake slicer, it’s 5 out of 5 stars!

For the food, it’s 2.5 out of 5 stars!

For the service, it’s 1 out of 5 stars! for the effort
