Shawarma Bros

Found our way at Venice Grand Canal Mall and before we head to our final destination for Playtime with the kids, we decided to check on Eatigo and see what resto has promo.

Turned out Shawarma Bros has a 30% discount so we decided to book it!

It’s nice to have the Eatigo App because with the discounts, you will not be afraid to try new restos. If in case the food’s not good, at least you didn’t pay the full price! Haha!

We came in ahead of our schedule and we seated ourselves. YES, we fixed our table. It’s by 2s so we had to put 2 tables together to fit us. Calling customer service!!!

When it was time to order, we were told that our schedule is 5:30pm and I think that they are implying that we couldn’t order yet. It would be okay if the place was packed. But hey, it was just us. Later on, a staff told that maybe we could order in advance, this was when she saw the ??? look on our faces.

A big school bus right before the entrance.

The interior is nice. I love the simplicity and the overall look of the place. It’s like we are inside a container van!

They have a #brobeerchallenge and the participants’ names and corresponding record time are displayed in this wall.

The menu is limited.

Since we wanted to have dinner, we ordered 3 rice dishes.

Hubby ordered a Bro’s Beef Shawarma Rice which is their best seller.

For hubby, his order’s value for money, especially we have 30% discount!

I ordered a Momma’s Chicken Shawarma Rice.

I love my order, I really got full fast. Suits my taste buds.

For the kids, we ordered 2 pc Honey Butter Fried Chicken with Rice.

The chicken’s breading was a little salty for my taste, but it was crunchy and the meat is very tender. Also, the meat tasted good.

All the rice dishes came with Shredded Veggies, a slice of Tomato and Crispy Veggie Strips.

So many sauces to choose from! The kids love their Cheese Sauce!

All in all, we are satisfied with what we had. Value for money is ok with the Eatigo discount.

If asked if we would come back, maybe we would like to try some other place first.

But if you haven’t tried yet, we recommend you try it rather than have a meal at a regular fast food chain.

Atmos Fit Elite

Part of my 2018 goals is to be fit. I am not getting any younger and I need to start being healthy if I want to live a long and fruitful life.

I have already started decreasing my rice intake. But I guess that’s not enough. I checked my Sugar Level and it’s almost crossing the border line.

I would start walking as my exercise and eventually do more rigid exercises as I go along.

To monitor my goal to be back into shape, I bought a smart fitness band.

Introducing the ATMOS FIT ELITE Smart Fitness Band. I ordered mine through Kimstore and picked it up at Technopop in Lucky Chinatown Mall. At only Php890.00, I can now start my fitness journey!

As I unbox, I got so excited. Included is a Manual and User Guide. The basic things you need to know about your fitness watch is here.

Included as well is the specialized charger for the band. It’s USB so charging wouldn’t be a problem.

I wanted black but it was out of stock, so I chose blue instead. The color is nice, the fit is just right for me. It’s lightweight and the band is not sticky.

The 3 button is where you will align your charger clip.

As excited as I was, I needed to charge first. And true to its advertisement of long lasting battery, one charge lasted from Feb 16 until Feb 24. I have been wearing it almost 24/7, even when I sleep, I only take it off when I take a bath.

This fitness band can do the following:

  • Digital Watch
  • Pedometer – count your steps in a daily basis.
  • Calorie Counter – count calories burned based on your stat
  • Heart Monitor – measure heart rate
  • Auto Sleep Tracking- measures the quality of sleep you had
  • Bluetooth Connectivity – connects with a free app which displays your statistics.
  • Essential Notification – vibrates when you receive a new message, but you have 5o sync it with your phone first.

All in one gadget. Definitely a must for mommies like me.

HAPPY Wings & Waffles

I am generally a happy person and I love seeing happy stuff. Now, there is a place where your tummy can be happy too! A few weeks ago, Happy Wings & Waffles opened its doors to the public. I have the opportunity to attend its soft opening and I certainly had a happy time!

I love how simple but catchy the logo is. Red definitely attracts clients.

The people who makes us filled with happiness!

I love this backdrop wall. This separates the main dining area and the private function area.

Balloons make the place festive.

A display of different flavored waffles and muffins for your choosing.

This is the statement wall just before the wash area.

Since it’s opening day and guests were invited for the blessing, we were treated with a 5 course set menu.

Hokkaido Pumpkin Soup with Fresh Diced Apple

Caesar Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing

Spaghetti Bolognese Pasta with Caramelized Onion Foccacia Bread

Rosemary Roasted Chicken and Cranberry Sauce with Buttered Broccoli and Cauliflower

Matcha Creme Brulee / Champagne Pannacotta / Italian Tiramisu

Terrace Hotel Subic Bay

A very relaxing weekend with my bae! This wouldn’t have happened without the help of Panoramictrip! You see, a few months ago, I joined their Summer Craze promo and I won! Wanna know how? Click this link!

I won a hotel stay at Terrace Hotel Subic Bay.

Lobby

Terrace Hotel is a 4 storey boutique hotel located at the waterfront which is Subic Bay. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to witness the sun rising or the sun setting as a typhoon’s just about to leave the country. What we witnessed though was the hard splashing of the waves, which was about a few meters away from the hotel.

The room that we were given was an Executive Terrace room. Its published rate is Php6,300.00nett/night. They now have a rainy day promo rate of Php5,040.00nett/night. It consists of complimentary buffet breakfast for 2, wifi internet access and use of outdoor swimming pool.

Let’s take a look at our room.

Cozy Queen Bed with a nice headboard.

The usual floor to ceiling cabinet which also houses the Personal Fridge and the Safe.

Right in front of the bed is the dresser with the TV.

On another corner of the room is a single seater sofa. Good for reading.

Of course, the bathroom is of equal importance just as the bed.

Regular bathroom sink.

Shower’s good, with hot and cold water. But the bath tub’s not clean. With traces of dirt in the tub. Not for bathing or lounging, should only be used as catch basin when you shower.

The promo was inclusive of cocktail drinks but we were just too full from our dinner at Ben’s Kitchen. It was in their restaurant / bar called Welltz. This was their venue also for ktv nights.

There was a cute iron man decor by the door.

One wall designed with bottles of liquor.

The bar.

The dining area.

This was also where we had our breakfast the following morning. For breakfast, we were served with the usual breakfast staple of bacon, tocino, fish fillet, sausage, fried rice, and some fruits. There was also an egg station where you could ask kuya to cook your egg of choice. You could also choose your drinks, coffee or juice.

What I love about this resto, the view!

Since it was raining so hard that day, the only thing you could see was the wind blowing the trees with all its might!

Overall, the hotel stay was nice. The staff were all responsive to our needs. They were very alert. You will feel their warmth and hospitality. The only downside is the cleanliness of the room. Aside from the bath tub, we also found used water bottles inside the fridge. We told the receptionist during our check out and they were apologetic about it.

Would I recommend staying here in Terrace Hotel? Maybe. But they have to get their act together and ensure that cleanliness is their utmost priority.

Oh! This might change my mind though. I haven’t got the chance to try their outdoor pool in the roofdeck. It would have been nice to chill and relax in the pool.

There’s also a bar where you could order cocktails.

The roofdeck was closed that day due to bad weather. Thankful to Kuya for accommodating my request.

To know more about our Subic adventure, keep posted on my next posts.

Cops & Robbers

Cops and Robbers is a semi themed resto located in San Juan. The place is big. Tables are for sharing. It is a tambayan (place for hanging out) after school for students and young ones. I called it semi themed because there are just bits and pieces of a cop and robber theme incorporated in the resto. We expected that it will be a full blown themed resto because of the name. Well, here are the bits and pieces. Take a look.

Two walls were decorated with a mugshot background.

The floor has silhoutte of human figures.

There is a mini jail on the side. This area serves as the employees’ locker space.

Anyway, despite the disappointment regarding the theme, the food made up for it! And since this dinner is for the kids, we ordered items from the menu that the kids will surely love.

Mac and Cheese

Four Cheese Pizza

Coming back for this! Melts in your mouth cheese on top of a thin and crispy pizza crust. A bit of pesto makes the litte quirk.

Chicken Fingers Rice Topping

Tender and crunchy chicken fingers served with rice.

Cops and Robbers Chicken Rice Topping

Boneless fried chicken at its best.

Bacon Mushroom Melt Burger

The burger patty tasted so good! With the right amount of dressing and bacon and mushrooms, this one is a must have as well. Served with their very own twister fries.

Cheese Steak Sandwich

I also like this sandwich. Strips of cheese steaks fill the grilled bread. Loving the homemade potato chips even more!

I am pretty sure this place is packed during school days as it is located right in front of a school. So better go when it’s the weekend! No traffic around the area!

They also serve milkshakes, milk teas and some more!

Before we left, we were surprised with the interior of the toilet.

Jail themed toilet complete with a getaway stair through the ceiling!

Cops and Robbers is located at 81 Xavier Street, San Juan.

See you there!

Burger King’s Four Cheese Whopper!

Been wanting to try this cheesy burger for sometime now.  It didn’t fail me!

This is THE burger for cheese lovers like me!

Aside from the fact that Burger King serves the best flame grilled burgers ever, this 4 Cheese Whopper tops it by having different kinds of cheese!

I only ordered for a Whopper Jr! Do jot fret, it’s already satisfying! Perfect meal if you are rushing!

Best eaten right after it’s served.

You could taste the Mozarella and the Cheddar as it melts in your mouth.

If you are wondering about the types of cheese, here they are: American cheese, Mozarella cheese, Swiss cheese, and Cheese sauce.

Really deliciously cheesy!

100% Juicy! 400% Cheesy!

Can’t wait to have one again!

Beyond Coffee

Not your usual coffee shop, it’s a good place to chill and relax.  The place has a nice ambience.

Each wall is decorated differently.

Beyond Coffee is suitable for a small group, about 3 to 4 persons.  This gives you a moment to enjoy your company.

My only problem would be the chairs.  It’s a stool without a backrest so you wouldn’t be that comfortable.  I had to rest my back on one of the walls.  Maybe they did this to save space.  Because I know bulky chairs could take so much space.

Anyway, that’s just a minor thing so let’s go to the food.

We ordered an appetizer to get us going.  Mr Nacho Gwapito – Php 195.00

Presented in a 2 tier plate.  There were 4 kinds of dip: Jalapeno Cheese, Sour Cream & Cheese, Salsa, and Ground Beef.  Up to you how your dip mix will be.

The nacho chips are also different.  You will have a choice of sour cream chips, bbq flavored chips, and the colored plain chips.  Crunchy and so full of flavor!

For the main course, we ordered their Burger Mac & Cheese at Php 155.00.

It’s a bowl of super cheesy mac & cheese paired with sausage burger.  Yumminess because there’s so much cheese in it!

Up next is a rice variant.  I called for the Pork in Teriyaki at Php 155.00.

Everything is tasty.  From the rice to the meat to the sauce.

Lastly, we ordered another pasta.  It’s one of their signature dishes, Red Pesto Tinapa.

I like tinapa but not really in a pasta.  Didn’t taste the pesto either.  My friend liked it, maybe it was just me.

Of course, a trip to the coffee shop won’t be complete without a dessert!

Mouth watering Devil’s Cake.  Super chocolatey! We love it!

Definitely will be going back to try their coffee! We didn’t order coffee anymore as we are already so full and I for myself has a very early day the next day.  I wouldn’t want to risk not being able to fall asleep when I get home.

Also, there’s many more dishes to try!  I think I’ll set foot again in Beyond Coffee within the next few weeks.

See you!

Citylight Hotel Baguio

A spur of the moment trip had us booking 2 rooms in Citylight Hotel in Baguio. It’s Independence Day Weekend and it fell on a Monday hence the long weekend.  Almost all the cityfolks clamored to get out of the city.

Good thing we found Citylight Hotel and also at a discounted price!  It was already around 3am of the same day of the trip that we were able to book our rooms.  We were hesitant at first because of the non airconditioning rooms.  But upon checking the weather, it’s a bit cold so we proceeded as we were also left with no choice!  All the travel sites are at least 90% booked in their Baguio Hotels.

Citylight Hotel is a modern hotel in a good location.  The lobby is spacious and there is a coffee shop where you can chill and sip some hot coffee.

We can feel the cool breeze at the lobby.

Upon checking in though, the girl at the receptionist told me that we were only confirmed with one room.  I told her it couldn’t be as 2 rooms were confirmed and already paid for before we left Manila.  I don’t think she knew what she was saying.  I insisted for her to check our other booking.  I kept on telling her to check my booking reference and print out but she wouldn’t budge.  Later on, she was finally able to check the other room and gave us all we need.  Got scared for a second there!

You have to make a Refundable Cash Deposit of Php500.00 for each room.  You will be given an acknowledgment slip.  Make sure to keep it properly as you will be needing that piece of paper for your refund.

Everything went smoothly after that mini misunderstanding with the other room and we proceeded to our rooms.

Since the hotel was fully booked, our rooms were on 2 different floors.

The room is ok, very spacious.  With 2 double beds, it can fit up to 4 adults.  A little bit hot since there is no A/C.  I opened the ceiling fan and room temp improved a little bit.

There’s a TV and some complimentary coffee and water.  Didn’t use the water thermos, my cousin said theirs had molds inside, didn’t bother looking at ours.

The bathroom is big.  Just not enough heatness on the hot shower.  But that’s okay.

Spacious sink for your what nots.

Rainshower = 2 thumbs up!

The downside, I opened the window to get some air in.  Once windows are opened, there are no more grills that for safety and security.  The view is that of the back of a building with normal house scatter.

Good thing it was a rainy and cold night because the room was cold with just a ceiling fan on.  We wouldn’t want to risk our windows opened all through the night.  I think someone could get in by jumping across.  Bad thoughts go away!

Hopefully, they could make some safety grills on the windows.  And also add some aesthetic cover.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for!

By the way, our rooms were also inclusive of Buffet Breakfast for 2 persons per room.  For additional people, they charge Php220.00 for adults and Php145.00 for kids.

Breakfast buffet consisted of Breads, Pancakes, Plain Rice, Garlic Rice, Scrambled Eggs, Hotdogs, Pork and Beans, Fried Danggit, and Pininyahang Manok (Pineapple Chicken).  There were also Arroz Caldo, and Egg Drop Soup.  Fruits were also available.  Juice and coffee for your drinks.

Satisfying breakfast indeed.  Makes you filled for a whole day adventure.

So there, my little review on our overnight stay at Citylight Hotel.  Hopefully, they make some improvements.

They have a really good location, walking distance to Session Road and Burnham Park.  So if you are not that particular with my rants, go ahead and book this hotel.

Oh! You may want to check Newtown Plaza Hotel first.  This is where we stayed the first time we had an impromptu trip to Baguio.  Too bad, it was fully booked this time!
