Killing Time (at Greenhills Shopping Center) in the Middle of A.P.E.

When you’re employed, having an Annual Physical Exam is required. It usually takes up a whole day or more if you need to do some follow up tests or if you need to see a different doctor. In my case, today is my 2nd follow up and I came in as scheduled for my laboratory and blood work. However, I needed to do some more tests which can only be done in the afternoon. Instead of going back and forth, I decided to just stay and roam around. It’s the best thing to do, and one of the reasons I chose Health Cube in Promenade Greenhills. It’s 12nn and I basically have 5 hours to burn.

This is how I killed time. I went up to the ground floor, browsed at Fully Booked and bought the 3rd book from the Crazy Rich Asian series, Rich People Problems.

Planning to read it while waiting. I also thought of watching a movie but went against the idea. After paying for the book, I felt my stomach grumble so off I walked to the other side of Promenade and to the foodcourt. I have charge slips to convert into GCs at Bonchon. #freelunch 😂😂😂 I had my lunch there and I stayed about an hour. To my surprise, the chicken’s so juicy.

After my 1 hour lunch. I decided to walk towards Shoppesville and VMall. I passed through all the different restos. There’s Bizu, Cibo, Gerry’s Grill, Isla Pulo, Pedro and Coi, Hokkaido Santouka Ramen and many more.

I crossed over to Shoppesville, the main shopping area of Greenhills Shopping Center! So many things to see here.

The fountain which you could only see from the 2nd floor, it’s situated in the middle of it all. Too bad it’s covered by the shops on the ground floor.

2nd floor is dedicated to the gadgets and accessories, it has a passageway going to the Vmall. I didn’t go through this area because I didn’t want to be offered left and right, I also have no intention of buying any gadgets or accessories.

Back to the ground floor where I mostly walked (and shopped), it has aisles and aisles of clothes, bags, and home decors.

Scored some super affordable everyday wear. I love the colors and the fabric of these blouses I bought. These 3 blouses set me back for less than a thousand bucks! 🤑🤑🤑

And I am so loving the black one. ⬇⬇⬇

There’s also an area for home decors, artworks and antiquities.

An area’s dedicated to shoes that are locally made, The Shoe Center.

If you like branded watches, bags and shoes (Class A to Class AAA), you could definitely find it here. There are also rows and rows of jewelries especially pearls.

Another thing that Greenhills kept from way back is the open garden that connects two areas. It also has a chapel where shoppers can say a prayer or two.

After Shoppesville, I also went to the Shoppesville Plus and the Toy Area near the Theatre Mall. I enjoyed looking at the toys I forgot to take pictures!

After about 3 hours of non stop walking, I was so thirsty and tired, I decided to go back to Health Cube and just read and wait there. The doctor came early and I was done by 530pm.

The Greenhills Shopping Center also added a new building for Uni Mart, a grocery store, and O Square 1 and 2, where you could find mostly restaurants.

So there, I hope you learned a thing or two from my experience today. Share share share!

What to do in Seoul: Daiso Shopping!

8 floors of Daiso! Can you just imagine???

Well, you will find this gem of a treasure hunt at Myeongdong in Seoul.

Running out of time, we decided to just spend half an hour in this massive building. Of course, there was a little bit of overtime! 😂

Just a go through though, here’s a floor by floor rundown of the 8 floors! And as a tip, you always start at the top floor. Take the elevator up then take the stairs going down. Makes sense?

And of course, since I was hurrying up to pay for my purchases, I forgot to take picture of the ground floor! Forgive me since I’m on overtime already!

So many cute stuff to buy! But my hands were tied as my luggage can’t handle it anymore! Blame it to Korean Air which only allows 23 kgs of check in baggage! 🙄

Daiso also offers Tax Refund but you have to do it at the airport. You have to ask for a receipt and your purchase must be KRW 30,000.00!

More of my Korean Trip soon!

Subic = Shopping

Being in Subic reminds me of so many memories especially during my childhood. It is just so sad that it’s not as it’s used to be now. When we were there last weekend, it looked a little like ghost town in some parts, not much people to be seen in the streets. The shopping centers are so old and very not well maintained anymore. It even looked dirty in some. The other shops literally didn’t have customers and even the personnel were just standing waiting for their closing time.

Since there is a newly built Ayala Mall now by the name of Harbor Point, maybe some businesses will follow. So that Subic will be back to how it’s used to be.

Here are our visits to the duty free shops and outlets inside Subic Bay.

1) Royal Duty Free Subic (old one)

2) Royal Duty Free (new one)

Same stuff being sold only the place is newly built – meaning cleaner surroundings.

3) Freeport Exchange

This place looks terrible now. It boasts of being the 1st duty free store, but it doesn’t make an impact at all.

4) Puregold Duty Free

5) Adidas

6) Nike Factory Store

I think there is still hope for Subic because it is still one of the nearest places to go to outside Metro Manila aside from the very crowded Tagaytay. People are still flocking, just not that many. I like that it isn’t that crowded but I hope the malls are kept nicely.

The prices are still competitive and some items are not found anywhere else.

Let us bring hope to Subic Bay, so our kids can experience what we experienced. Before there were Landers and S&Rs, there were Royal Duty Free, Puregold and Freeport Exchange.

Stay tuned for more of our Subic adventure!

American Tourister and HSBC

I was surprised when HSBC offered me yet another new card, HSBC Gold Visa.  Just a few months ago, I got an offer to get an HSBC Red Mastercard and I was able to redeem 3 pairs of shoes for free!

I am not one to shoo away offers like this so I proceeded to getting an HSBC Gold Card.  And unlike the Unionbank promo where I had to spend Php30,000.00 to get a World Traveller luggage, HSBC’s promo is to spend only Php5,000.00 and you will get an American Tourister spinner luggage!  Who am I to say no?

One or two trips to the grocery for household necessities will set you back at least Php 5,000.00.

And I am so happy that there were no problems with claiming the luggage as Rustan’s is the one handling it.  You just have to check out the days allowed for redemption.  Also, you have to be early so that they will not run out of stocks.  Better yet, you can call them to reserve.

We went to Rustan’s Gateway one Saturday to check out something and I just remembered that I have a luggage to claim.  I scrolled through my inbox to find the SMS from HSBC Redeem, took out my Gold card and Valid ID from my wallet, then presented it to the one in charge.

A few minutes after, we were on our way out of Rustan’s with the spinner luggage!

So here’s another luggage for my future travels.

not TSA lock

What are you waiting for?  Apply for an HSBC Card now.  They have a new promo.  Get an HSBC Platinum card and get an American Tourister spinner luggage for free.  Here’s how!

World Traveller and Unionbank

Saw this advertisement and it was just right on time!  Immediately applied for a Unionbank Cebu Pacific GetGo Platinum Card through Unionbank’s website.  It was such a breeze.  Fill out their application form with your pertinent details and upload a copy of your financial document on their website.  Minutes after I pressed the Submit button, someone from Unionbank Cards already called me to verify my application.

I confirmed and about 2 weeks after, my new card was delivered.

It was really right timing since we were about to purchase airline tickets for a family trip.  If not for the airline tickets, I would have not reached the required spending of Php 30,000.00!

Terms & Conditions:

  • Card should have been applied for and subsequently approved on or before February 28, 2017.
  • Applicant is new to bank, meaning you don’t have any existing credit card yet with Unionbank within the last 3 months at the time of application.
  • Minimum spending of Php 30,000.00 within the promo period (May 31, 2017)
  • Registering and signifying your intent to receive the promo luggage at their unionbankph.com/freeluggage
  • Must retain the newly approved card for at least 2 years.

Once you have spent the required amount and registered, you will wait for 15 to 30 days to get a redemption sms.  They have a schedule and redemption sms are per batch.

I finally got my redemption sms and I immediately called the participating Travel Club branch nearest me to schedule my pick up.

Unfortunately, the Travel Club in Gateway told me that there were no deliveries yet and I have to wait for at least a month.  I tried calling the other branches but they said the same to me.  I called up Unionbank to complain.  My point is, we have already waited for the redemption sms for at least 15 days, it means they know how many of us qualified as they have already validated our purchases.  Telling us to wait for some more is not justifiable.

A few days after my complaint, I got a call from Travel Club Gateway that my World Traveller Luggage is already available for pick up.

I claimed the next day before they ran out of stocks again!

So here now is my World Traveler Metallic Grey Small Luggage with Item code WT14T45124-070 size 37x22x56cm with SRP of Php 4,490.00.

It has its own luggage cover!
Hard Shell for Delicate Items

With TSA Lock!

Covered compartment

Sturdy Handles

Redemption is until July 31, 2017.  So hurry and redeem before it’s too late!  Here is a list of the participating Travel Club Branches and its contact numbers:

  1. World Traveler Vista Mall – Tel. No. 941 9123
  2. The Travel Club South Mall – Tel. No. 800 0462
  3. The Travel Club SM Annex – Tel. No. 332 2307
  4. The Travel Club Gateway – Tel. No. 911 1482
  5. The Travel Club Abreeza Davao – Tel. No. 082 321 9377
  6. The Travel Club Robinsons Galleria Cebu – Tel. No. 032 261 5577

Not bad if you really have something to spend on.  Instead of buying a luggage, you get it for free!
