HAPPY Wings & Waffles

I am generally a happy person and I love seeing happy stuff. Now, there is a place where your tummy can be happy too! A few weeks ago, Happy Wings & Waffles opened its doors to the public. I have the opportunity to attend its soft opening and I certainly had a happy time!

I love how simple but catchy the logo is. Red definitely attracts clients.

The people who makes us filled with happiness!

I love this backdrop wall. This separates the main dining area and the private function area.

Balloons make the place festive.

A display of different flavored waffles and muffins for your choosing.

This is the statement wall just before the wash area.

Since it’s opening day and guests were invited for the blessing, we were treated with a 5 course set menu.

Hokkaido Pumpkin Soup with Fresh Diced Apple

Caesar Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing

Spaghetti Bolognese Pasta with Caramelized Onion Foccacia Bread

Rosemary Roasted Chicken and Cranberry Sauce with Buttered Broccoli and Cauliflower

Matcha Creme Brulee / Champagne Pannacotta / Italian Tiramisu

Of course, after a meal, a cup of coffee is definitely a must!

This is me enjoying my hot cup of Cafe Mocha!

There are so much more to try at Happy Wings and Waffles! Will post more photos as I try more food from their menu. But I will be sure to order the Rosemary Chicken with Cranberry wine sauce! Can’t wait!!!

Be it breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner, Happy Wings and Waffle surely has something for you!

Kid in School: Results!

Results of the 1st Quarter Final Exams are finally out! Can’t help but be proud of my first born.

All the stress and pressure-filled days are totally worth it.

image

It is so funny though that she got her only perfect score on her least favorite subject, Filipino.

Even though I know she should have gotten all her mistakes correct, I will give the kid a break and just be proud and happy.  Her lowest grade, after all, is 95%!!!

Now, another waiting game till the Report Cards are out.

Food Trip: Happy Lulu – Fusion Kitchen

Family Sunday Lunch at Happy Lulu!

image

A Fusion Kitchen. Loved the somewhat vintage pieces they used for the interior, especially that golden mirror!

A quaint little kitchen near the Banawe area. Something different to try. And it’s not even expensive. Prices range from Php 150.00 to Php 250.00!!! But the food is absolutely of quality!

Today’s menu consisted of Seafood Dishes.

image

Started with some soup. Hot & Sour Soup for the adults and Lomi Noodles for the kids.

The Hot & Sour is really hot! No doubt about that. Loved the texture of the Tofu, not squishy. We couldn’t control ourselves after we finished a bowl, we ordered another one!

Their Lomi Noodles is a catch with its price of Php 180.00! A lot of
ingredients tossed into that superb bowl, from veggies to meat to shrimps!

image

My MIL already planning to go back just because of this Sea Cucumber Tendon Dish! He said FIL will love it.

The Sizzling Oyster is for the oyster lovers out there. A must!

image

Picking the Grilled Squid over the more tasteful Sizzling Salmon Belly. Why? Some belly still has bones and I almost got prickled. Phobia on Fishbones!

image

Lastly, my favorite of all we ordered. The Spicy Clams! Not as spicy as the Hot & Sour Soup. So, it’s good to go in my throat!

Happy Lulu is such a Happy Place for the tummy!

Visit them at 19 Ubay Street Quezon City.

Follow them on their Facebook Page. Happy Lulu

Overpumping, is there such a thing?

Lately, I have been pumping as often as I could. I will be going back to work in a few days and I want to stash as much breastmilk as I could so that my baby will have enough supply while I’m gone. Also, this is my way of establishing my supply, aside from direct feeding, I express milk when baby doesn’t want to nurse.

These last few days, I noticed that my supply really increased. There’s your proof, the principles of demand and supply really works! So for breastfeeding moms out there who needs to increase milk production, keep on pumping!

If this is the case, then I guess there is no such thing as over pumping! I once read from a forum that one mommy does “power pumping.” What she does is pump every 2 hours, so in a day where there are 24 hours, she pumps 12 times! She swears by this method.

I also think that overpumping is a myth because even if we do not pump, we usually nurse our babies on demand. So if a baby is an active nurser, then she will nurse all the time too!

Well there you have it, overpumping is non existent! So go ahead, pump and nurse all you want!

Cyma

For my daughter’s post 2nd birthday celebration, we went ahead to Cyma Greek Taverna at Eastwood City.  We called up to reserve our slot as we always do. That’s the first thing we do if we are to avail of a voucher!

We were a few minutes early and the place wasn’t packed yet, since we reserved an early dinner time slot.  The staff were all accommodating. They showed us our table and asked for the vouchers.  (One thing not to forget also! Bring the voucher!) We bought 2 vouchers. A voucher is good for 2 persons only. We were 4 plus my little princess.

We had a few pictures taken while waiting for our order. See how our little princess be all cute and ah, cuter!

Then some more pictures…

After sometime, the food finally arrived. First was the Soupa (soup) Mommy ordered (which I am sorry I forgot what it’s called).  It was a French Onion Soup, the taste was just right.

Next to come was the Orektika (appetizer), I ordered their Spinach and Artichoke Fondue, which turned out was a house specialty and really appetizing. Just like the soup, the saltiness was just right. You can actually taste the spinach. The melting cheese on top made it yummier! It was served with 3 slices of pita bread and 3 slices of toasted garlic bread, which actually made us full already!

Spinach and Artichoke Fondue

And here’s a picture of Daphne eating her pita bread.  She loved it.

Our family loves anything lamb. So we ordered 2 dishes of lamb meat. The first was a Souvlakia Souvlaki which was skewered lamb meat with vegetables.  More like the Kebabs of the Persians.  The skewered lamb meat was served with 3 full pita bread and garlic sauce.

The other dish we ordered was another house specialty, it was the Paidakia. It was grilled lamb ribs served with potatoes.

Both lamb dishes were grilled to perfection I must say.  The true taste of the lamb came out very savoury.  I just squeezed some lemon juice over it and boom, yumminess! The lamb meat were also very tender.

As much as I would like to try their Glyka (desserts), there’s no more room. That is why I would go back to Cyma again, maybe sooner than later, to try out the other specialty dishes and of course, their desserts. Rating? I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Cyma makes a very healty choice of a restaurant for me and my family! Good food, good service, good ambience – what else could we ask for?

Cafe Jeepney

For my mother in law’s birthday, we decided to try the buffet in Hotel Intercontinental’s Cafe Jeepney.

We called up the hotel for reservation to avoid any inconveniences and to make sure that we have a table.  We went there early enough to choose our table. The staff were all pleasant enough, they even helped me with my baby Daphne. They even gave Daphne her own chair with table and her own bread! To Daphne’s delight! 🙂

We waited for a few minutes because the buffet isn’t open yet.  Since the place isn’t packed yet, we decided to have some picture taking going on.

daphne wants to get inside the little jeepney

The place’s interior is very warm. Dim light and all. You will not be intimidated. It’s perfect for little family gatherings or for couples who wants to enjoy each other’s company.  Here are some pictures of the food display.

And our favorite dessert of them all… the Chocolate Truffle

Chocolate Truffle

Overall, dining at Cafe Jeepney gets 4 out of 5 stars.  Although the selection of food is not as many as those other hotels, the food is really sumptuous and uses real ingredients. You know that you are not being shortchanged.  Moreover, the staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful.  If I have a chance to eat at Cafe Jeepney again, I will definitely come back!

Here’s our family picture after our yummy dinner!

pure raw talent

I saw this video on a friend’s wall, and this guy is amazing!

He sang a Tagalog Song titled “Iisa Pa Lamang,” but he did it in 2 voices! A man and a woman’s doing duet!

The owner of the video Dupz Villamor, wrote in the video’s caption, that he found him singing inside the SM Department Store at Mall of Asia.

This should be seen by talent scouts! This kind of talent is what the industry needed! 🙂

Happy watching! 🙂
