Tori Chizu

Recently tried this Japanese Resto in Megamall. Tori Chizu specializes in all food cheesy! 🧀🧀🧀

Ordered too much! Got the set meal and it consisted of 2 choices of Japanese Doria, 2 sets of 2pc Fried Chicken, 4 glasses of Iced Tea and 4 cups of Cheese Ice Cream!

I don’t have anything to say about the chicken. 😐🤐

The Milk Chiz ice cream can actually get to you! First 5 bites is heaven, but the succeeding bites take you back to earth. Too salty or too cheesy, I am not really sure. Too big of a serving, the kids didn’t finish it. Maybe a bowl for sharing is okay. Or a little less ice cream per cup.

For our main dish, there’s the Doria. What is a Doria? It is a Japanese Rice Gratin dish, usually with different variations.

For our first doria in Tori Chizu, we called the Chicken Chizu Curry. It should have been called Curry Chizu because that’s all it was, curry sauce. Maybe they forgot to put the chicken meat! 😣

There is really nothing special in this dish.

Our other doria is so much better! Chicken Teriyaki Doria had a lot of chicken meat! The teriyaki sauce was beneath the mozarella cheese and this tasted good. The kids loved this dish. The cheesiness and the the taste of the teriyaki blended well together.

Here’s my firstborn attacking the doria!

She’s in love with all things cheesy!

If you are in the area and you want to try having a doria, go ahead and do so. There are 3 more other flavors to try. They also serve Ramen and Hambagu Steaks.

Tori Chizu is located at Upper Ground Floor, Building A, SM Megamall.

Tori Chizu is beside Zubu, should remind myself to dine at Zubu soon! 😋

Courtyard@453

Braved the rain to go to the newest place to hang out in San Juan.

Courtyard@453 is located at 453 P. Guevarra Street San Juan, hence the name with the 453.

And unlike other food parks in the metro, this courtyard has parking spaces and the actual dining area is air conditioned.

Inside, a bright and airy space will greet you. 5 restaurants that serve 5 different cuisines surround the place.

Right smack in the middle is the bar. They serve everything from juices to shakes to beers! They also have ice cream for dessert and coffee to cap off your meal.

Since our kids love Japanese, we went straight to the Japanese resto. Ebi 10 is famous for its tempuras and crazy rolls. They were just named by Spot.ph as having the best ebi tempura in Metro Manila.

My minnies got hold of the menu and ordered their own ebi tempura. For the adults, we tried the Crispy Torched Salmon Skin Maki.

We ordered Gyoza as we usually do when going Japanese. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

For sure, kids loved the tempura. Gone in 50 seconds!🍤🍤🍤🍤

As for me, I love the Crispy Torched Salmon Skin Maki that we ordered, very very tasty and really crunchy!

Moving on to the next resto, Tra Vinh Express is the newest baby of Tra Vinh Philippines, an Australian born Vietnamese restaurant serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine that has already carved its way into the hearts of Manila’s foodies.

Not Vietnamese without the Dry Noodles and the Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls.

The dry noodles is good.

The fresh shrimp spring rolls could do better with a tastier peanut sauce.

Since it was a rainy and gloomy day, we decided to have some hot noodles. We ordered from The Silver Dragon which serves Chinese Cuisine.

The kids love the Wonton Dumplings that comes with the Noodle soup.

Kids also loved the Xiao Long Bao.

Hope they improve the Fresh Lumpia though.

There’s 2 more restaurants to try but we were so full already!

Pops ‘n Pebs serve Filipino dishes.

LIF, on the other hand, serves American Cuisine. If you are up for some burgers and fries, or maybe pasta and pizza, you should try this one out.

This slider looks good and this might be my order on my next visit!

To add, their restroom’s very very clean and smells good too!

They also have another washing area outside.

So there! Stop reading and see for yourself! DEFINITELY a must visit!

Kimukatsu

I remember this place back when Century City Mall was just newly opened.  Hubby and I spent an anniversary dinner here.

Now, with kids in tow, we decided to let them try some of Kimukatsu’s best sellers!

Kimukatsu doesn’t serve regular tonkatsu or pork cutlets.  Aside from selecting the highest quality pork, they take time to slice the pork thinly and layer it 25 times over before they cover it with fresh breadcrumbs and fry it slowly in low temperature.  This locks in the natural juice of the meat while having that crispy batter outside.

Kimukatsu is the only restaurant in the world that offers 25 layersof mille-feuille Katsu in multiple flavors.

For appetizers, we ordered Agedashi Tofu.

Agedashi Tofu – Php 180.00

Even my daughter loved this!  It’s very very soft and tastes so good.

For our main course, we ordered a Salmon Set, and 4 Kimukatsu (Plain, Cheese, Garlic & Creamy Spinach).

Cheese Kimukatsu – Php 380.00

Plain Kimukatsu – Php 330.00

My kids love these 2 Kimukatsu.

Creamy Spinach Kimukatsu – Php 430.00

This is my favorite of them all!  This is their plain kimukatsu but it’s topped with creamy white sauce consists of spinach, onions, mushrooms and bits of bacon!

Salmon Set – Php 430.00

Every Kimukatsu flavor has a place of their own.  Why not try them all!

And as icing on top of cake, service is very good in the branch that we went to – Century City Mall.  They are very attentive to our needs, especially when we are asking for another serving of cabbage or another serving of their Japanese rice!

Definitely going back sometime soon!

There are now 3 branches:

SHANGRI-LA PLAZA
Level 5, Shangri-la Plaza East Wing
Telephone No: 727-0333

CENTURY CITY MALL
Level 3, Century City Mall
Telephone No: 812-0333

BONIFACIO HIGH STREET
G/L, Building 7, Bonifacio High Street
Telephone No: 808-0333

Food Trip: Tenya

Went to Megamall last weekend and after a tiring stroll, time to get some food! Kids requested for some tempura so we decided to try Tenya!

Tenya is the most successful Tendon restaurant chain in Japan. Tenya’s here to provide us with affordable but high quality tempura. According to them, most of their ingredients and equipments came from Japan to ensure authenticity and the best tasting food they could offer us.

Each of us tried a different variant but it all came down to a common denominator – the Tempura!

Hubby tried the All Star Tendon!
