Food Trip: Oh My Bap Burger

Impromptu movie date with hubby led us to an impromptu food trip at the Theatre Mall.  Many may not know that behind that huge facade of popular restaurants just outside Theater Mall, lies a food court filled with unique food ideas.

One of those is Oh My Bap Burger!  Check out their extensive menu and their very affordable prices.

When we saw this place, we got curious on what they are offering.  Korean Food in a Burger. Hmmm…

I had Bulgogi Bap Burger (Php94.00) It is basically an order of beef bulgogi with rice.  But it’s not served ordinarily.  It will be served as a burger.

The rice they used is sticky rice, so that it will form as burger buns.

The bulgogi was stuffed in between the rice burger buns.  I liked the taste of bulgogi, not too sweet and not too salty.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a picture of the other bap burger as it was already devoured. Hubby’s order is Kimchi Bulgogi Burger.  Their kimchi is not spicy according to him.  It looked almost the same, except for the reddish orangey kimchi mixed with the beef bulgogi.

It’s very simple how they do it but that will be our secret for now.  You go and find out for yourself.

Beauty: BeautyBrick Hair Art Studio

Growing my hair for quite some time now because I want to have it curled. Yes, you heard read it right.  After some dilly dallying, and some inspiration, I finally set that appointment.

Saturday at 3:50pm, we arrived just in time for our appointment of 4pm.  Upon entering the salon, we were greeted by everyone.

image

We were told to seat and wait.  The salon is buzzing.  I counted 6 heads on different stages of perming.  This salon is known for its no nonsense service and their oh so beautiful curls.  I was really definite on getting permed, while my mother in law, who is beginning to be my beauty bestie, opted to have her hair cut and colored.

image

After waiting for a few minutes, finally called for shampoo, then they applied some hair protectant creams.  Mr Shin styled my hair and texturized it.  I had healthy hair so I am free to choose the size of curls I want.

image

I chose the medium curls so that my curls will last longer.  The curls will get bigger as time goes so my curls will just transform from medium curls to big curls until I have it cut.

image

They applied some medicines again, left for some minutes.  Shampooed.  Then they put some rollers and waited for Mr Shin to put the final rollers.

After the rollers, I was now wired.  Heavier than it looks but it’s ok.

image

Left me to finish a magazine of Cosmopolitan Philippines.

And then I was off to the finishing stage of my digiperm.

image

Oh my, it was love at first sight.  The sight of my first curls made me really so happy.

What’s good about the salon, they teach you how to maintain your curls.  Twist and scrunch? Not all the time.  More like scrunch and scrunch.

I’ll post a maintenance guide on my next post which you can read here.

The salon is owned and ran by Mr Shin, a Korean who studied in Japan, hence the Nippongo Language.  He is a cool guy, literally!  He doesn’t get fazed by all these heads simultaneously getting beautified.  Oh and did I mention that he is the only stylist there?  He just has a special crew who takes his instructions by heart.  They are all knowledgeable and very very friendly.

He has an assistant who translates his instructions and communicates with the clients.  I think most of the staff there understands basic Japanese already.

I thought Mr Shin is so serious but his fun side finally surfaced when we asked for a groufie with him.  And it’s because we were 2 of the last 3 clients left.

image

I loved how my curls turned out.  Soft and bouncy and manageable.

Mommy also loved her cut and the color.  She wanted a bouncy cut and Mr Shin delivered.   It’s very seldom that she gets satisfied with what a stylist does to her hair.

My beautiful curls, all for Php3,700.00 and my mom’s hair cut and color for Php3,000.00.  That is so affordable compared to some other salons that has “names” already and located at the malls.

Also, another thing. I love everyone here. Everyone is so attentive to clients’ needs, they make sure you keep your hands inside the gown and close your eyes when they apply some medicines, they help you with your things and they are so well coordinated. I could go on and on, super duper excellent service! Never have I experienced anything like this!

Be@tyBrick Hair Art Studio is located at Unit 103 Doña Consolacion Bldg., 122 Jupiter St., Bel-Air, Makati City.  You may contact them at 0917 520 0044.  They reply right away.

Food Trip: Makchang

It’s Saturday night!  Time to eat!!!

With the kids left at home, we are free to satisfy our taste buds and bellies!

We are here now in Makchang located in Adriatico Street, Malate!

image

Even at 9pm, the place is bustling!  We got there and we were welcomed by Makchang’s staff with delight in the sound of their voices.  All through out the evening, the staff were so hyper and so friendly even if they are exhausted.  I know they are, they look like it.  But they pretend they are not and still do their job pretty well.  Their service is fast and I really like it.  Kudos to all Makchang’s staff, your boss is lucky to have all of you!

Now moving on to how Makchang looks.

image

This is one corner inside.  In a matter of minutes, those seats are already filled.  The interior is simple and there’s no out of this world designs whatsoever.  Only out of this world food!

On one of its walls, this huge menu is posted!

image

We ordered 1 each of the Pork Variety.

image

The first one to be grilled is the Pork Galbi.

image

Of the 3, this is the best.  It has been marinated already.  The fat on the side of the meat adds to the taste.

Looking good…

image

Love at first bite.  Juicy and tasty!

image

Up next on the grill was the Galmekisal.    Then the Samkyupsal.  Both are not marinated.  So the taste will really depend on how fresh the meat is.  Unfortunately, these 2 doesn’t fare much with the Pork Galbi.  We know what to order next time!  All Pork Galbi!

image

image

Though lacking in taste, the meat’s tender and not chewy.  You just have to use the side dishes so every bite will not taste bland.

And Makchang, by far, has the largest selection of side dishes.  All of these are unlimited!

image

According to my sister in law who loves Kimchi, Makchang’s is good.

image

This is good also.  It’s like a Salad.

image

Oh and let’s not forget the sauces.  My every bite will not be complete without dipping into these sauces.  I love how it tastes salty and sweet at the same time.  Good match for the non-marinated meat.

image

Aside from the barbeque dishes, we ordered Korean congee also.  I forgot what it’s called.  This is something to try also.  Rice and veggies with Soup, to put it simpler.

image

Our Makchang experience made a mark in our tummies.  We had fun, our tummies had fun as well.  Definitely going back to try their beef barbeques!

What are you waiting for?

Ye Dang – Korea Trip Hangover

For Mother’s Day Celebration, we decided to try Ye Dang here in Meralco Avenue.  Heard that it’s good here.

We can’t get enough of our Korea Vacation. So here we are still eating Korean Food!

What greeted me when I entered the door!

image

image

image

The place is bustling!  Full house and it’s only 6:30pm!

image

As of writing, I am waiting for our table.  Let me give you an update later.

Finally, we are seated after 15minutes of waiting.  Kids doing some heart signs for Mother’s Day!

image

image

What’s the downfall in eating in a full-packed Korean BBQ Resto? It’s hot!  Airconditioning is not enough!  So we called for ice cold water!
image

In all Korean Restos I’ve been too, they always serve lots of appetizers. And for this one, I loved their Crispy Sweet Dilis!
image

image

Getting ready to start cooking!
image

Our 1st batch of BBQ Meat!
image

Ready to be eaten!
image

Not that tender and maybe more marinate for the pork.

Noodles for the kids. Favorite Korean Japchae!
image

The same kind of noodles we tasted in Korea, chewy but soft. The Japchae’s actually yummy.

Some Spicy Tofu Stew.
image

Hubby loved this. The Tofu is super soft. It almost melts in your mouth.

Korean Fish to add to our meal.
image

The fish is a little bit spicy. Tastes good also.

After an hour of eating, I am so very full!
But still so many left of our food!

Overall, nothing compares to eating Galbi in Seoul! The meat’s more tender and tastier. But hey, we ‘re already back and this is how good it can get until we go back to Korea!

Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
