Kermit Manila ❤️

We are always on the look out for a resto with great food and good ambience. We found one and we spent our Post Valentine Date there last February 15. Kermit Manila is a pizza place right in the heart of Makati.

It’s a bi level resto. The first floor is where the bar is, also an al fresco area to hang out after dinner. Kermit Manila traces its roots from Siargao, a surf place, so it’s very evident in the design of the walls at the bar – complete with a sliced surfboard.

The main dining area is located at the second floor. Warmly lit during early dinner time and appropriately adjusted to dimmer lights as the night gets deeper. 🌃

On one corner of the room is where the pizza station is. All pizzas are freshly made and cooked right in front of everyone.

You can even create your own pizza!

It’s a Pizza, Pasta, Steak kind of night so we ordered all three!

For pizza, we ordered a Cloud 9 as we were told that it’s one of their bestsellers. Very simple – Parma Ham, Mushroom and Gorgonzola plus your usual tomato sauce.

For pasta, we ordered another best seller, the Fresh Tagliattele al ‘Crab Fat’ Sauce and Prawns. It’s creamy, just the way I like my pasta. The crab fat sauce is infused in the sauce. The prawns are not overcooked and can be peeled easily even with a knife and fork. 😂 Sosy problems.

As for the Steak, we chose Tagliata di Manzo, an Argentinian prime steak cooked medium rare over a bed of arugula.

The Steak’s so tender, not chewy. Just the right burnt to give crunchy bits to the edges.

Everything’s good. We only have one observation, the food were not served as hot as we expected them to be. We have also read in other reviews about this issue and we got to experience it as well. I just don’t know if it’s really their thing or what.

One thing I gotta point out though is the service. It’s way up there. Even if the resto was jampacked that night, everyone was still friendly and accommodating. Great job guys! 👍

Food Trip: Meat Depot

New concept.  New idea.  New place.

Meat Depot is it!  Somewhere along Banawe, you’ll see a black and white signage.  It says Meat Depot / Wholesale Retail / Better Meat Better Price.

It definitely says it all.  So what do we expect? I’ll take you through the experience.

Upon entering the shop, it looks like your regular meat shop. All four walls surrounded by huge freezers.  There’s also the production area where everything is prepared.

Aside from being a meat shop where you purchase and take your meat home, you can immediately devour and satisfy the carnivore in you by simply going to the 2nd floor and have your meat cooked.

You only need to go through 5 easy steps.

1) choose your meat
From the open freezer, there are a variety of meat.  It’s vaccuum sealed so it’s not messy.  It’s already priced according to its type.  Packed in different sizes as well.

2) fill out your order slip

After choosing, you can go to the next step.  Fill up a form (one per meat).  Write your name and type of meat. Choose how you want your meat cooked, they call it the level of doneness.  You can pick the kind of sauce as well and of course, the sides – which are all carbs anyway.

3) choose your drinks and pay

Proceed to the cashier and pay for your orders.  Take note though that on top of the price of the meat, there is a cooking fee of Php100.00 per meat. It’s a fixed price so no need to worry about their weight.

Wide variety of drinks are also available.  Pairing steak with wine is normal so they have 3 kinds for you to try.  They also have sodas and some coffee.  They also serve desserts.

4) get utensils, spices and water at the self service station

While waiting for them to cook your food.  Prepare your utensils, get some spices and a glass of water at the self service station.

5) claim your cooked meat

During Step 2, you should have gotten a number which you’ll use to claim your order.

For 3 persons, we are on beast mode.  Picked 5 kinds of meat: 3 pork, 1 lamb and 1 beef.  Posted according its likeability.

The chicharon bulaklak tastes good but lacks crunchiness.  Love the vinegar dip though.

Shouldn’t have ordered the bacon.  Not crispy because it’s grilled.  You can feel that you’re chewing the fats.

The beef is tender but there were some parts that are very very chewy.  

The Lamb Chops is up in my list.  Tender and meaty.  Sarap to the bones!

The Marinated Pork Chop is my favorite of all!  Tastier.  Meatier.  Just choose a packet that has lesser fats and you’re good to go!

Oh wait! The mashed potato is the bomb!  Freshly made with only pepper and salt.  No preservatives at all and surely not a pre mix! 

I like that they specified how to go through the process.  I also love the industrial, no frill set up.

I will be back.  There’s so many others to try.  Will still purchase that Porkchop though!
